Here’s what Al & Jan wrote … TAKE A MINUTE AND DO THE SAME!

July 3, 2010

Dear Governor Crist,

All the nominees for the PSC have been selected to serve the wishes of the power companies and destroy your work to give fair hearings to the citizens of the state; please do not select any of the nominees.

Your rejection of bad choices will prevent hearings of the board until a fair and independent board can be seated.

Thank you for what you have done and tried to do at the PSC. Choosing Nancy Argenziano for the board was smart and effective. We want her back in government as a shining star for capable, conscientious and honest government.

When we met you in Lecanto we confirmed in person our distant impressions of you. You will be an excellent senator – you listen.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Jan Grubman
Al Grubman

Citizen’s Academy has slots left

There are still some slots left in the second class of the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners Citizen’s Academy. The program offers an in-depth look at the county commission’s various departments in 10 four-hour sessions, from Sept. 2 to Dec. 2 on varying Thursday afternoons.

The sessions are held at different locations, run from 1 p.m. To 5 p.m. On the 10 different Thursdays, and include field trips. There is no charge for participating, but there is an attendance requirement for a certificate. Graduation is at the Dec. 7 commission meeting.

The goal is to educate residents about what the commission’s departments do and how they do it. The program aims to show residents how property taxes and other revenues are spent under county programs. Policy issues are explained and current topics are discussed weekly.

For a schedule and/or application, call or visit the commission / administration offices either in the Inverness courthouse or the Lecanto Government Building or call 341-6560 or 527-5210.

Additional information is available on the Citrus County BOCC website

The Citrus County Council (CCC) is a consortium of civic clubs, homeowners associations and environmental groups, and has a long and proud history of grass-roots democracy in action. The CCC was organized in 1980 and incorporated in 1982 as a non-profit, non-partisan group.

Through the Standing Committees - Environment & Natural Resources, Governance & Fiscal Watch, and Education - the Council seeks to exert a positive influence on quality of life issues, specifically: protecting natural resources, managing growth, providing for high quality education, and ensuring that government officials function in accordance with their mandates and in the best interests of the citizens in Citrus County.

We invite you to join us as a guest at our next meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, 9:00 a.m., at the Beverly Hills Lions Club, 72 Civic Circle, Beverly Hills, FL 34465.

Something Good To Do:

Here’s something quick and easy that we can all do that will put a smile on someone’s face.

One of the CCC Board members brought this to my attention (thank you Gail!) and I have used this website to send cards to our service men and women.

Let's say Thank You to Our Soldiers

Please take a look and send a card - or two or three…
